RSS on the iPhone

I've looked around for information on using RSS on the iPhone but everything I see is from June 2007. RSS is a web format that shows you all of the headlines on a webpage with the first several lines of the article. It makes it easy to scan the articles in something like the New York Times, typically without all of the graphics or ads that accompany a web page. You can always click on the headline to go directly to the article. The same holds true for blogs and is a quick and easy way to follow when a blog is updated.

So the question becomes how do you do this on the iPhone? I have found a couple of way. You can enter the web addres that ends in .XML (which is time consuming) and bookmark it. Or, you can save the RSS feeds in Safari on your computer and sync your bookmarks with your iPhone. This is the way I do it. Most pages that have a RSS feed will show in the Safari address bar on the far right with RSS in blue. If you click on RSS it will change the web page to the RSS format where I bookmark it. If you don't see RSS in the address bar, sometimes there is are the letters XML next to the article which you can click on to do the trick. If you are looking for a good website to play around with to understand this try npr.org or even this blog.
