Editor's note: I have been away from the internet for 2 days so this was intended to be posted last Wednesday.
Two days ago was one of those days that I live for as a Dad. Sofie is learning to smile. I took one of the stuffed toys from her rocker and played with her. That’s when it happened; she gave me a boa fide smile, and it happened again and again. It was a great moment to have my first two-way interaction with my daughter. She is gaining more muscle control each day and has become much more aware and curious of her surroundings. I’m loving the Dad gig.
The obvious question becomes “what about sleep”? Well, Oliwia has been handling the majority of the nightly duties and as mentioned previously, Sofie is very good overall. I help out on weekends by bottle-feeding in the middle of the night. Oliwia takes her for walks during the day, which has been especially challenging with the season’s first snowfall and cold temperatures. At night, we take try to take walks together around the neighborhood.
As can be expected, Sofie loves both the Utah Jazz and the Dallas Cowboys. I took her with me to Tom’s tonight and she slept through the entire Jazz/Spurs game. She must be my good luck charm as the Jazz won. The mountains are reporting 2 to 3 feet of snow so hopefully I’ll get out for a tour this weekend. My buddy Paul hit Alta this afternoon and was the last one to ski down Supreme. He reports that the snow was great but the temperatures were Frigid. Speaking of snow, TGR’s new movie will be playing at Brewvies next week to benefit the Utah Avalanche forecast center. It’s for a good cause and you’ll get to see the world record cliff jump (equivalent to jumping from the top of the Walker tower’s neon weather sign on skis).
Life is good.
